I happen to have a problem with a single Win7 x64 machine. In IE11, no download prompts are appearing and CTRL+J doesn't open anything, if I'm not logged in as an admin or if IE is no started as admin. Weird thing is, that the user is a local admin and still doesn't get any download prompts. Trying to figure out a global issue with are new Windows 7 image at work in IE. We have old PC's that we are replacing and on the PC's we are using an updated Windows 7 image but has the same IE 11 version 11.0.9600.18738CO on both images. The difference though is that there is no security prompt to open PDF files on the old image. In Internet Explorer 10 and IE 11 Microsoft has hidden the option to automatically open files rather than prompting for you to open or save a file of that type each time you click on it. In earlier versions of IE, the open/save dialog prompt came with a checkbox option to show, or not to… So far the only way is to tell users to disable the setting "Automatic Prompting for file downloads" in IE which of course I'm reluctant to having make them do so. So my question is - are there any workarounds? Or even a way to check this setting programmatically (obviously I wouldn't be able to change it though) in order to display a message.
